Learn About Making Waffles And A Cast Iron Waffle Maker

Cast Iron Waffle

Waffles have always been an all time favorite on the breakfast table in many different countries. These days making waffles, can be no more than convenient and easy. While electric waffle makers are the easiest way to make delicious waffles, one can still use a lodge logic pan to make them. The waffle cast iron may be traditional and one might need to take a steep learning curve in order to use it. Additionally, it is less used compared to its electric counterpart but still, this cook ware can make great and crispy waffles as much as the electric one.

The cast iron waffle in a traditional waffle maker is similar to that of a wok, a Chinese, round and bottom cookware. Since it is an enameled iron, seasoning is crucial before using the pan to grill waffles. This is to avoid having them stick in the pan. To season the iron, it must be first washed with hot water to remove the wax coating. In some cases, using soap to wash cast irons should be avoided because it might affect its ability to absorb the taste of the food. After washing with hot water, it should be heated in the oven or a stove top for around an hour.

As for the waffle mixture, basically, the ingredients consists of eggs, flour, baking powder or soda, butter, buttermilk and maple syrup all mixed together so a batter is formed. Making homemade waffles are not complicated and it only takes a short while to prepare. However, if you can’t afford to spend time doing it, you can use waffle mixtures that are readily available in the supermarkets instead.

Choosing the Suitable Waffle Makers

When it comes to shopping for the waffle maker, you might need to consider a few factors besides your personal preference.

The first thing you would want is a waffle maker that has enough storage space. The size of the one you purchase will determine the size of the waffles you serve every morning. Each model comes in various sizes and shapes. You may find that some are designed in an upright positions or tucking away the cord in order to save storage space.

Apart from the shapes and sizes, each maker also comes in a wide range of colors as well as finishes. The most common ones are the silver, black and white. Whether traditional or modern style and whatever waffle maker you choose, it is a good idea that it complements the style you want for your kitchen.

Another factor you would want to consider is its easiness to clean. Of course, nobody wants to purchase cookware that would require them to exert a great deal of effort in scrubbing of the stubborn rusts and food remains. If you purchase an electric waffle maker, then one advantage is that you can easily clean it after using. Most of these have removable plates to make the cleaning process easier.

These are just some of the basic facts and tips about waffles that could be of great help to you if you are considering the idea of making waffles a part of you and your family’s breakfast each day.
